Hideout for a Relaxing Mind at Sentosa Villa, Taiping

Soothing. That’s how my brain processed what I saw as soon as I stepped off the bus in front of Sentosa Villa’s entry way. Even though Sentosa Villa is located at the edge of a housing estate, it is however, bordered next to a forest so the background is filled with lush greeneries and the sound of chirping birds. It is definitely a change from the hustle and bustle of Taiping town. Who would’ve guessed that such a change of scene is only 1.5 kilometres apart?

Sentosa Villa is definitely a place you go to to wind down and forget all the city life and work that stresses you out. The minute you breathe in the fresh air you would want to just throw your cellphone in the nearest river so that nobody will call you to discuss about that project papers you have to submit next week. It is a place for you to relax, to hang out with your family, to take long walks along the quiet pathways, to lie down in the hammocks that you can find almost everywhere in the villa and to just forget about all your sadness.

Accommodation

The minute we stepped into our room, us girls squealed with delight at the towel art on the bed – swans – how romantic. We were assigned to the Family Classic room that has 2 King beds which is suitable for 4 persons. The room rate is RM338 for low season but price differ for shoulder or peak season. We even have our own balcony, which opened up to more greenery and sweet-smelling fresh air.

• Honeymoon Villa – fits 2 person, 1 king bed. Price starts from RM 238
• Wooden Villa – fits 2 person, 2 single beds. Price starts from RM 208
• Deluxe Villa – fits 2 person, 1 king bed. Price starts from RM 208
• Junior Suite – fits 2 person, 1 king bed with bathtub. Price starts from RM 278
• Family Classic – fits 4 person, 2 king bed. Price starts from RM 338
• Superior Room – fits 2 person, 1 king bed. Price starts from RM 158
• Standard Room – fits 2 person, 1 king bed. Price starts from 138

All rooms are fitted with :

5. Mineral water (daily)
6. Basic toiletries
7. Satellite TV (not available in Cottage)

However, Wi-fi is only available in public area and not in individual rooms.

Sentosa Villa Surrounding

A walk around the villa by yourself is refreshing. You can go down to the stream nearby to dip your feet in or if the water is higher, you can dip your whole body in too. The river flows from Bukit Larut or Maxwell Hill. Some pipings are made to flow directly to some fish pond within the villa’s compound. There are many types of fishes here, the Black Arowana amongst them.

Sentosa Villa focuses on tranquility, it being part of their motto. It is very quiet here, even though there are almost 30 of us in the villa but once everyone is safely tucked in their own room, you won’t hear a voice, except for the occasional cricket sound. This villa is also a mini orchard, having durians, mangosteen and some other fruit plants around. Fruits are not for consumption without permission from the villa’s administration though.

Amenities

I can live without Wi-fi for a day (or maybe two!) but I would want to be doing other activities to fill up my time. Luckily, Sentosa Villa offers some indoor games or amenities to spend quality time with friends or even by yourself. They have dart boards, game room (ping pong), swimming pool (direct water from the river), barbeque pits (inform the reception if you would like to use the pit) and if you’re like me and love your body to be pampered on a holiday, there’s a spa where you can get body massage or facial treatment at. Prices are separate and to be paid to the spa directly.

And, like I said above, you can just lounge on any of the hammocks you can find within the vicinity and day dream for hours.

Sentosa Villa Taiping is a beautiful, relaxing place to unwind from the chaotic city life. It is also a good place to come with your family or friends on a short holiday. It’s close vicinity to Taiping town will rescue you from boredom if you decide that you couldn’t live without shopping malls or the sound of cars honking.
