Quiet Retreat at Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments

A few weeks ago I was looking for a local place for retreat for my husband and myself after many months of stressful work. It was a boon of fate when a representative from SGI Vacation Club contacted me for a sponsored stay at Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments in Perak.

I was happy and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go there for two reasons: first, I had never stayed in Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments and second, my husband and I really needed a quiet retreat and Damai Laut is the place to be if you would want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life for a while.

I did some research on rome2rio transport search engine and found out that driving would be the best choice in comparison to taking a bus or train. So, my husband and I drove from Kajang all the way to Damai Laut, Perak, which took us about 4 hours (if we include toilet breaks).

Check-in time is 3pm onwards and check-out is 12pm.

Location & Architecture

If it was your first time to Damai Laut (as were ours), it might feel like a bit further than you imagined, trying to get to the resort. Even after Waze informed me to turn left on Jalan Damai Laut, it still took another few kilometres and greetings from some wild monkeys on the road before arriving at the guardhouse to the entrance.

At the entrance, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the Damai Laut golf course, one of the famous golf courses in Perak.

About 1 kilometres or more after that, you will then see the signboard “Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments” before turning right to the area of the Holiday Apartments.

Modern in their design, the four-storey apartments are all walk-ups. The location of the apartments is scattered which gives extra privacy from neighbouring apartments. What I like most is the greenery that is more cooling to the eyes (and my parked car) before heading to my Studio Unit.

Rooms & Amenities

Upon entering my room, I first saw a kitchenette on my right side and door to the bathroom on my left. There is a small wardrobe next to the bathroom where there are a broom and trash scoop. Well, it is the Studio Unit after all.

There are some basic amenities that can be found in the bathroom including toothbrush, shower cap, sanitary bag, soap, cotton buds, towels and hairdryer. I appreciate that there’s an iron and ironing board too because, hey, a hijabi needs to iron her hijabs daily!

The room is huge though. I like the open concept of where we could hang out clothes and where we could find extra pillows – a closed wardrobe will make the room seem smaller and less “airy”.

There’s a sofa next to the bed and a dining table that can seat 3 people at one time next to the sofa. I like doing my work on that table (yes, I’m on a holiday and I still have to do some work) which is very comfortable and bright.

Other Facilities

Apart from the room facilities, there are also other facilities in Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments that can be used by patrons of this establishment. Other facilities include:

  1. Sauna Room – F.O.C.
  2. Darts – F.O.C.
  3. Reflexology Path – F.O.C.
  4. Soccer Field – F.O.C.
  5. Table Tennis – F.O.C.
  6. Tennis Court – F.O.C.
  7. Basketball Court – F.O.C.
  8. Bicycle – RM5 for first 2 hours & RM3 for the subsequent hour
  9. Board Game (Monopoly & Chess) – RM10 per set
  10. American Pool Table – RM3 per game
  11. Miniature Soccer Game (a.k.a. Foosball) – RM2 per game
  12. Fun Fishing at Jetty with Guide or Jungle Trekking – RM15 per person
  13. BBQ Pit Rental – RM60 per pit (accommodate up to 10 pax), Additional Charcoal at RM15 per bag

Since the location of Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments is quite far from a mart, I would definitely recommend bringing food supplies (to cook in the apartment unit or for BBQ) beforehand. A mart is a few kilometres away and if you have to drive in and out of the Swiss-Garden resort a couple of times then it wouldn’t be considered a “retreat” now, would it?

My husband enjoyed the swimming pool very much. He did a number of laps the first time but got tired since he hasn’t been swimming for a while. But hey, a few times practising and he was almost back to when he was in shape (LOL)! I liked the sauna room. The Sauna could easily fit 10-15 people at one time but since I was alone (and I’m a chicken), I didn’t use the sauna room for long.

We had so much fun using some of the facilities at Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments. Some of the games available brought my husband and me closer and we laughed all the time.

We had our breakfast, lunch and dinner at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort’s The Garden Terrace, which where all Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments patrons will have their free breakfast at (that comes with your apartment booking). Read more on the delicious food my husband and I had at The Garden Terrace and the activities my husband and I did at both Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments and Swiss-Garden Beach Resort here.

Services By Staffs

Since my arrival was already informed beforehand, my check-in process was smooth and quick. On another note, it was a low season and I did come around 5pm so there was nobody else at the Front Desk except for me.

I did try the Karaoke Room and patrons of Swiss-Court Holiday Apartments must inform the Front Desk earlier on the day for booking of the room (also so that you will not clash with the other patrons). My husband and I enjoyed our time Karaoke-ing very much. The Karaoke Room was huge and probably could fit about 10 people. The songs are quite up to date and the room smells nice too.
