Get Unlimited Wifi Overseas with Travel Recommends

For some, traveling is a time where they disconnect from everything – people, internet, stress and other things. For me, it is a time to allow my mind to connect to new things in a new place. Having said that though, I still need some backup and that’s when the internet comes in handy.

Back in the days when pocket wifi was yet to be introduced, I would have to purchase a local sim card when I arrive at a foreign country so that I could have online access whilst I’m there. It is quite a hassle, especially if I was only there for a few days. Maybe some would suggest using my own mobile data (roaming) but that would definitely put a hole in my pocket. So apart from using data roaming, what other options do I have? Travel Recommends.

Unlimited Wifi with Travel Recommends

When I travel, I would have basic itinerary and plans of places to go to and things to do. However, more often than not some of these plans might change when I’m already at the country. When that happens, getting online to search for alternative programs and directions are usually what I would do first.

Having unlimited wifi with Travel Recommends sure helps me a lot when things like these happen. Since I am more of a go-with-the-flow type of traveler, having a handy pocket wifi and a good smartphone sometimes brought me to places I’ve never planned of going to in my initial itinerary.

Not forgetting to mention that the unlimited wifi with Travel Recommends is so much cheaper than data roaming or buying a local SIM card and mobile data. The hassle I would have to go through just to purchase the best local SIM card (yes, every country have different rates and packages) and exchange my own SIM card with the local SIM card (and risk losing it) is just something I’d rather not experience.

My Experience With Travel Recommends

The last time I used Travel Recommends was for my honeymoon in Singapore and Phuket, Thailand at the end of January 2018.

Initial process to rent Travel Recommends was very simple. First, I have to reserve online (best to reserve at least 5 working days before departure date). Then I receive email from Travel Recommends on how to make payment. After I made payment through bank transfer, I sent the payment info back to Travel Recommends and later received confirmation letter from them (which I would need to show them when I collect the Travel Recommends router before my departure).

I chose to collect the router at the airport (their location is at KLIA2, KLIA, Penang Airport) but there’s also an option of having a courier send the router to your home if you would prefer that. A courier service would mean and additional RM20 (for each way) though.

All the while my husband and I were in Singapore and Thailand, the wifi never failed us – except when we were using the MRT underground (Singapore) and when we were at sea en route to James Bond Island (Thailand). But that’s understandable, don’t you think?
