#KLHangOut in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur
Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, is a popular place with the young crowds. A shopping haven in the day, it is transformed into hangout hub at night.
Not just a place to party the night away with your fancy clothes on, it is also a place to wine and dine or to spend time with friends over a glass of your favourite drink with good music playing in the background.
My KL Hangout session started at Forbidden City KL, Jalan Changkat and ended in the early morning hours at Nagaba Restaurant & Bar KL, Jalan Mesui. The best part is, these two places are just a stone’s throw away from each other.
KL Hangout with Live Jazz Music
I always love hanging out at places with live music. Clubs have never been my thing, even though I am into EDM music. Strong alcohol smell with thick cigarette smoke in an air-conditioned room are not good combinations to my sensitive eyes and nose.
Pubs with live music however, suits me better.
When I followed the KL Hangout session few weeks ago to Forbidden City KL, I was entertained by a group of talented musicians who plays live jazz music – some are their own songs – called Jamie Wilson Trio.
Forbidden City KL also serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. I think the best part of hanging out at places like these, you don’t have to talk much over the loud live music and just enjoy sipping your drinks and stare into your partner’s eyes for long minutes.
If you’ve read my Gourmet Safari before, the name Werner’s Group will not be alien to you. Forbidden City KL is one of Werner’s Group many establishments in Bukit Bintang. They hosts many different bands and you can check out the website to see who plays on what night.

KL Hangout on the Rooftop
Eating burgers on the rooftop, sipping on your Virgin Mojito and listening to remixed pop songs? You can do this at Nagaba Bar & Restaurant KL. Nagaba Bar & Restaurant KL is actually a multi-space establishment that caters for everyone.
The ground floor is an air-conditioned wine lounge, with leather sofas and an industrial-like vibe.
Take the stairs to the first floor, this is the club floor where EDM music is played every Friday, featuring a selection of well-acclaimed DJs. There are other type of genre of music too including deep house, funk and drum and bass.
If an enclosed area is not your thing and you want to inhale fresh air, the rooftop is where you should go to. I love the environment up here. With tables and chairs fashioned from crates with a DIY feel to it, the floor is lighted up with colorful light bulbs at night. The rooftop is more laid-back, with plants at almost every corner, making the surrounding more environmental-friendly.
There is a bar nearby called the Mojito Rooftop Bar that serves both alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. Go for the safe drink like me; Coke.
You can enjoy the remixed music up here as you grab a bite and laugh about your awesome day with your friends.
